About Choir

TCHS Choirs are composed of three musical organizations:

Concert Choir – a non-varsity, mixed ensemble
Encore Choir – a ladies ensemble
Tempo Choir – a varsity mixed ensemble (sometimes dances while singing)

JOINING A CHOIR

Concert: No auditions are required for this choir

Encore: A student must audition with a prepared piece of vocal music that is atleast 1 minute in duration. In addition, the student will be asked to complete a short sight-reading sample AND sing "My Country 'tis of Thee" in a key appropriate to his/her voice part. The students are judged on vocal ability, musicality, stage presence, and sight singing.

Tempo: A student must audition with a prepared piece of vocal music that is atleast 1 minute in duration. In addition, the student will be asked to complete a short sight-reading sample AND sing "My Country 'tis of Thee" in a key appropriate to his/her voice part. Because Tempo is also a Show choir, students will be asked to perform a 1-minute dance routine as a separate audition (a clinic to learn the dance will be held on the same day as vocal auditions, with dance auditions falling on the next day). The students are judged on vocal ability, musicality, stage presence, sight singing and movement. *Tempo members perform for social, civic, community and school events.

Auditions will be held in the Spring.
