APPOINTMENTS DURING THE DAY

Should a student be required to leave school for a medical appointment, please send a note to school with your student that morning or call your student’s attendance clerk. Notes must have your signature and a phone number where you can be reached. It is difficult to have your student ready when we only have a short notice, therefore the likelihood that you may be late to the appointment is increased with little or no advance notice. All appointments should be scheduled outside of school hours when possible. Please bring a medical note from the doctor’s office for all medical appointments upon return. Appointments for personal business are unexcused.

ILLNESS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

Students that become ill during the day must be dismissed through the nurse.

ABSENCES

Please call the student’s attendance clerk as soon as you become aware of an absence, but NO LATER THAN THE DAY OF THE ABSENCE. Voicemail is available 24 hours per day and this is truly the best way to report the absence. Clerks will not call parents back unless requested to do so or if the clerk needs additional information. Phones are not answered prior to 9 a.m. as we are busy admitting students to class. Send a note to school with your child on the day they return to school. This note should contain your signature and a phone number where you can be reached. Students are required to report to the attendance office between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. for an admit slip following an absence. Students not in class before the tardy bell rings due to getting an admit are considered to have an unexcused tardy. Admits are to be obtained before school begins.

Driver’s License Verification (TEA forms)

Students sign up for these in the attendance office, and they are required for any student age 16-18 wishing to obtain or renew a Texas driver’s license. Forms are available after school for students signing up prior to noon. They are available the following day for requests made after noon.

College Visits

Seniors are permitted two college visits. Students must obtain a college visit form from their attendance clerk. This form must be submitted to the assistant principle no less than three days before the planned trip. Upon approval, the assistant principle will give the student the signed form for teachers and attendance. Upon return, the student must bring verification of their visit to the attendance office from the college.

Incorrect Personal Information

Should you notice when looking in Esembler that email addresses or contact phone numbers are incorrect, send your student to the attendance or registrar’s office to obtain a form for update. It is pertinent that we have correct information. The form can also be downloaded here.
